Dash Cam Installation
Step 1: Determine where and how to place the dash cam
The optimal location is somewhere discreet and out of the way so that the dash cam will not obstruct your view when you are driving. We would recommend the area behind the rear view mirror because it is at the center of the windshield so it will be able to capture most of the road conditions. Once you have decided on a place on the windshield. Clean the windshield with a cleaning agent and wipe it dry. Remove the 3M sticker on the dash cam mount, firmly press the mount onto the windshield.
Step 2: Connecting the power adapter cable
Plug the 4m cable adapter into the camera, and start to guide the cable around your windshield. You want to tuck the cable neatly across the top of the windshield and work your way down the side door to keep the cable out of sight. In most vehicles there is a small gap between the roof lining and the windshield, our power cable has been designed to push neatly into these gaps. On the side of the vehicle (along passenger door), you can tuck the cable underneath the rubber seals along the door way. Once down on the floor, one simple way is to simply run the cable under the floor mat. If your vehicle do not have a floor mat, you can run the cable along the bottom edges of the glove box and then to the 12V cigarette lighter connection.
Step 3: Installing the rear view camera (optional)
If you have the JS DASH PRO, you will have an additional step of installing the rear view camera. The rear view camera comes connected to a cable. Simply plug the cable into the camera and start to run it along the top of the windshield and along the liners on the side of the vehicle. Again, there should be a small gap in the roof lining along the side of the vehicles where you can tuck the cable into. Once the cable is winded to the rear of the car, you can route it through the back seat to the trunk, into the trunk door and out to the rear license plate area (See photos).
Step 4: Mounting the rear view camera (optional)
The ideal location for the rear view camera should be where the license plate is (see photos). There is usually existing screws that holds the license plates in place. Simply remove one of the screws, add the rear camera and screw it back in place. The orientation of the camera should be flat side up (see image below). . Once the rear camera is in position, simply adjust it to the desired orientation, use a mini screw driver to tighter the two screws along either side of the base plate to hold it in position.
The RED wire in the rear camera: This wire is an additional wire that can be connected to the rear brake lights of your vehicle. If done so, the JS DASH PRO will automatically switch to backup camera whenever your vehicle is in reverse. If your vehicle already has a backup camera, you can simply ignore and tuck away the red wire. We would recommend consulting with a car mechanic to connect the red wire to the rear brake light.
